Over the holidays, Feven, had the luxury of visiting gorgeous, Ghana. During her travels she spent some time in a city filled with the most radiant and beautiful people called, Kumasi. Kumasi is located in south Ghana — known for its lush landscape, alluring plants and flowers, Kumasi was coined, “The Garden City.”

It was in Kumasi that, Feven, rediscovered her love for colorful-bold-textiles and she had the incredible opportunity to design a twinship dress! We can’t write about the  ‘Journey of The Twinship Dress’, without discussing the stunning-style of the Zongo community, a metro area of Kumasi.

Borrowing from the words of John Fairchild, “style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma.”  The people of the Zongo take great pride in their fashion choices as a way to express their unity and individualism.

From elderly women heading to the market to sell handmade beaded necklaces to 2 year-olds playing with their friends…everyone is draped in confidence and custom designed clothes. Yes, the luxury of “custom” is a norm in the Zongo.

Back to  the “journey” —  The Twinship can’t take total credit for selecting such a stunning textile as it was given to us from a special woman in Kumasi. A woman who we now consider family. With her guidance and encouragement, Feven, met a talented tailor who took some measurements and  requested a “simple sketch” of the design and the rest is history! A few days later The Twinship dress arrived at the hotel — capturing the vision elegantly and perfectly.

So grateful and in love with the dresses, we decided to honor them by taking photos in front of the Mandela mural on Highland (in LA). We hope you like them! Please tell us what you think.
