Angelina Jolie – VOGUE 2008

Happy Friday, Bombshells!

This week’s twinship bombshell is the beautiful and brave, Angelina Jolie. Angelina is known all over the world for her rare beauty, but to us, what makes her a bombshell is her unique heart.

After discovering that she had an 87% chance of getting breast cancer, (she carries a very rare “faulty gene” BRCA1), Angelina decided to get a double mastectomy. Wow. Breast cancer is so scary–even the mention of it  has the Twinship giving ourselves a self-examination–  so, when Angelina chose to tell the world about her double mastectomy in her New York Times op-ed piece, she reminded us that health should always be a #1 priority:

“I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy. But it is one I am very happy that I made. My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent. I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer.”
