Happy International Women’s Day, Bombshells!
This week’s Twinship Bombshell is our, Aunt Sagad. Our Aunt Sagad is a true habesha beauty. She is fiercely independent, classy, wise, compassionate, strong-willed, intelligent, humble, brave, and resilient.
In 1975, Aunt Sagad lost her husband to the Eritrean-Ethiopian War. Never remarrying, she worked three jobs while raising 6 of her nieces and nephews, and her daughter, Desta. Aunt Sagad has endured more pain than most people, but you wouldn’t know it when meeting her, because she never allows her circumstances to shatter her spirit. Aunt Sagad makes us so proud to be Eritrean women.
xoxo,
Feven & Helena #twinship
P.S. What international women inspire you?

Feven and Helena, this is so lovely. We (Ethiopians, Eritreans) in the diaspora have all an “Aunt Sagad” that endured the impossible. Thanks for reminding us to look for inspiration within our own communities.

Aunt Sagad is a jigna. The kind of jigna that I pray to be for my daughters.
As you described her, I was reminded of the verse in Proverbs about the wise woman: ” She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her”. – Proverbs 31
