Twinship Throwback Thursday
The Twinship Heels by Artist John Ashford

We know…this post is late…well…fashionably late. Truth is — we were doing some late night Spring cleaning and came across what we now refer to as “The Twinship Heels” by New York based artist, John Ashford.

The story of  “The Twinship Heel” goes like this: we met John Ashford at a Roots concert back in 2004 (when we were broke college girls living in a cramped studio apartment with no money but a million dreams…we kind of still feel that way at times but we digress.) Anyway, John, was inspired by our face (we know we sound narcissistic, but it’s the truth…and hey, who wouldn’t want to be an artist’s muse?), and he felt compelled (we sound so dramatic) to paint our faces on high heels! Crazy!  After John painted our faces on these heels he went on to create “The John Ashford Collection.”

Even though, we almost broke our twinship toes squeezing into those oh-so-narrow-glittery-diva-heels…we will never part ways with the “The Twinship Heel.” After all…fashion is art.

P.S. Wherever you are, John Ashford, looking back, we are even more flattered and honored that some regular ol’ Eritrean twins from Rochester, NY could be your first shoe subject. Click here to check out our fav John Ashford painting so far!
