New Year. New You. New Bedroom.

Home Décor

One of our New Year resolutions is to freshen up our bedrooms! Though we both like clean lines and contemporary flair — Helena loves a vibrant and lively bedroom, where as, Feven would take a black, white and gold bedroom any day!

Since we live in LA (where practically everyone rents)  we can’t really do permenant-cosmetic changes to our bedrooms, so we decided to give our space a simple ‘facelift’ and wanted to share with you 5 easy tips that we’re learned along the way.

1. Pin Point Your Ideas

Pintertest

Ben Silbermann (Internet entrepreneur who co-founded and is CEO of Pinterest) changed the game for decorators and designers everywhere! We can’t tell you how many times we encourage our clients’ to create ‘vision boards’ of what they want their space to look like. With Pintertest you can literally go through an encyclopedia of images and pin your little heart away! You’re effectively organizing your vision which makes it easier when communicating  to your decorator and/or designer.  Check out our board ‘Sleep Easy’ for some ideas!

2. Removable Wallpaper

An easy and inexpensive way to change-up your space is using removable wallpaper  — Urban Outfitters ‘Apartment’ has some great options! It’s easy to apply and automatically adds style to your bedroom! We recommend that you do one wall only — preferably your headboard/bed wall — as you don’t want your space to feel too busy. After all…you go to bed to sleep — not lose yourself to multidimensional textiles.

If you don’t have a headboard and don’t feel comfortable with an entire wall of wallpaper, you can actually cut out the wallpaper in to a headboard as seen here.

And, if you live in LA Walnut and Wallpaper City & Flooring have a great selection of removable wallpaper.

3. The Power of the Pillow!

Don’t be afraid to pile on those decorative pillows! Adding new textile pillows to your older bedding is a great way to freshen up your bedroom and can be inexpensive. You can purchase pillows with pizzazz from Ross, TJ Maxx, Target or Marshalls.

4. New Bed Spread

We’re firm believers that a messy bed = a messy head! Make your bed every morning and feel good walking into your space with lovely bedding with an interesting print! We really love West Elm and Pottery Barn’s bedding options and right now Pottery Barn is giving away 20% off on new bedding! And, on Sunday, Jan.20th at 10am  Pottery Barn is doing a complimentary class on ways to decorate your bedroom! You can’t beat that!

5. LIGHTING & LAMP SHADES

Lighting can change the mood of your space and add a splash of style! Switching your lamp shape with a fun new textile is an inexpensive way to make your bedroom feel complete. We recommend Lamps Plus and Shades of Lights for your lighting needs.

What are your best tips to freshening up your bedroom without breaking your budget?

  1. Thanks for sharing the news, all of the tips are awesome, I never eve knew that removable wallpaper existed!

  2. Thanks to Feven & Helena for posting a pic of my bedding featuring, of course, #AsmaraDecor signature pillows – they go with so much, every home needs at least two or three to mix & match! Ironically, I just bought a new grey/white “chevron” oversize pillow from West Elm to change it up for Spring 2013! Curious about removable wallpaper – once it’s one, does it come off without damaging your wall?! xoxo

    1. thanks for supporting us! love the new west elm chevron pillow — so i see you’re switching it up for spring, too! love it! as per the removable wallpaper — it does leave a bit of residue that can be easily removed by soap & warm water. xoxo twinship!

  3. Now look smart and get a perfect coach bag that enhances your style, you need not spend much on these pricey pieces, just ppay the discounted price and look smart with stylish baghs displayed onn these onnline discountted stores.
Usually based out of China and India, these stores are
able to offer deep discounts on customized clothing by cutting down on the labor costs.
But then this does not mean that these designer clothes for kids are a big scrap.

  4. ll find desiggner clothing for children of all ages and wigh many labels specialising in kids clothes you can
be confident of gstting the best, annd the quality you.
People will ‘ooh’ and ‘awe’ when you are well dressed.
Most interns and juniors leave after a year to search for other jobs once they have built a strong portfolio.
