Feven & Helena

We are proud Eritreans, born in a refugee camp in Khashm el Gibra, Sudan. We’ve always considered ourselves lucky girls: lucky to have survived one of the worst famines in history, lucky our tiny mother survived childbirth to twins, lucky our father survived the war, lucky to be alive.

The Yohannes Family

But today we feel especially lucky. Many of us sought refuge not out of choice but for survival. Can you imagine uprooting your entire life, leaving everything you know to start all over?

As twins, we have a special bond and understand: united we stand, divided we fall.

We all have a purpose. Let it not be to promote hate and discrimination but rather…love.

With love always #proudrefugee!

xoxo,

Our beauty philosophy is deeply rooted in our earliest memories as political refugees from Eritrea. Beauty to us is grace and resilience. As twin sisters, we share everything including our love for makeup and in particular eyeliner! We will never forget our teenage years as cashiers in high school saving up enough money to buy our favorite beauty brands.

  1. So proud to call you friends and I could never imagine my life without you in it. You are part of the beautiful fiber of this country. Never let the views of a toxic mind ever make you feel less than this! Difference makes America what it is and will be!!!!! Love your strength!

  2. Thank you for sharing your story. Your family is the American Dream and have so much to be proud of. #loveislove

  3. Sometimes the adversities we go through help us become the person we are proud of, and instead of hating what we’re going through, we should bless it because it is going to build us into that person that we are proud of being. History teaches us that unity is strength, and cautions us to submerge and overcome our differences in the quest for common goals.
Thank you for sharing your story and for being a great roll model with beautiful souls. I love you!
