Twinship — Statement Necklace

So according to our Instagram feed it’s become apparent that the famous 90’s look “the chocker” is making a comeback! It seems like every other photo is of some girl (taking a selfie of course!) ) rockin’ a choker and looking fabulous! And so naturally with that said, we are now that “some girl.” But with all the options out there –  we couldn’t find a choker that wouldn’t give us an allergic reaction. Annoying fact – we are highly allergic to anything that has nickel in it – and even some more expensive “nickel free” pieces will make our skin breakout after an hour! It doesn’t normally bother us since we opt for a more minimal look but the chocker just seemed like such a fun way to relive the 90’s and so…we made one ourselves. We’re pretty crafty, right? It was super easy and fun!

We just went to Mood Fabrics and got velvet string and a cool button and sewed it together. We call it The Twinship Statement Necklace! How 90’s do we look? Which brings us to the question of the day: what was your favorite 90’s song? Ours…No Doubt’s, Just a Girl and well, basically every song on, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill!  The album is a forever a twinship fave! xoxo,

P.S. we miss you guys!

  1. Haha! Ok so specifically on this choker note, at first I was like “I don’t need to be reminded of me being 7 years old again” BUT of course it took me no time at all to jump on that bandwagon and despite me wearing that black choker necklace every single day with every not so fashionably styled outfits my mother forced me into; I now incorporate them into more tasteful outfits haha.

  2. This might actually make a cute little weekend project. I make earrings and bracelets mostly! I think leather cord would even take up a notch further. I remember the irridescent metal links ones back in the day! 🙂 Unfortunately totally had a tubby neck years ago. Loving this minimal update and so envious of your beautiful bond guys. Precious. ~ P ~

  3. Great work on the chokers. Sometimes I go to a local Jewelry crafting shop and get the hypoallergenic hardware for my ears as well. Nickel is really irritating. I love the chokers you made.
